Singapore Entertainment Awards 2011

The yearly Singapore Entertainment Awards is here!

I am really pretty much excited for this event. Every year, i hear about it but did not have the chance to attend this grand event. I think the e Awards is a very good platform to recognize the efforts and hardwork of all the artistes, producers and songwriters. I mean, if I am a singer, i would want people to appreciate and acknowledge the products of my hardwork. Being a musician myself, I believe every piece of music, every note, every rest, every beat is the result of one's passion and effort. Music can transcend and a good music is able to bring across the intention of the writer's well. To produce a good music would mean great effort and perserverance.

e Awards is THE PLATFORM to acknowledge all these and i would want to be part of the spectacular and memorable moments where everyone's effort is being appreciated. I want to see all the touching moments where winning artistes thank their family, friends and crew for being with them, helping them and working through everything with them to present the best of herself/himself. I feel the satisfaction the artistes feel when they are awarded because i know being a musician is not easy. Their expression will be one of great satisfaction and pride, something which i want to view for myself. Every award is cherished greatly and i want to be part of this really memorable moment.

Hence, i know that to be able to go for the e Awards is something that will be really meaningful to me, as I will be able to share the touching moments with the people on stage. And i hope I too, can be like them one day. :)

Fish Leong's Music Showcase

So i was given two free tickets by iWeekly to attend Fish Leong's music showcase on 12th March at ST James Powerhouse. I brought Kimying along for this event. My dad fetched kimying at Paya Lebar and sent us there. We reached at about 540pm.
We went to collect the tickets and queued in the super long line of people.
While we were taking photos with the ticket, there were two guys, one with those super pro cameras you see at mediacorp, came over and asked if we could say something for them. So of course we said something. I mean, cannot reject right? Basically i was the one whole spoke mainly on like how Fish Leong didnt have any concert in Singapore since 2007 so I am pretty excited for it and kimying said like she really very happy to be here and the ending, we both had to said Thankyou Singtel Am. This short video that they film, we had to take it 3 times! NGs man. By the third time, i very pekchek alr. I think my first two times much better than the last one. haha but oh well, it was a good experience.
So after the filming, we continued taking pictures. And the cameraman actually went down the line to film the crowd two or three more times. I told Kimying to turn when the camera turn, she really turn and the camera went past her face! haha.

You can download Fish Leong's song on Singtel Am. Her songs are really nice and worth listening to!
So we went in at bout 6.10pm. Jiafa from FM YES93.3, was the emcee for the event.
Just a picture right before Fish came out.
She started off the event by singing her 主打歌: 情歌没有告诉你 from her latest album.
Then there was some chat between Jiafa and Fish as well as some games in between. There was this guy who even 表白 to a girl on stage. Oh then there came the segment where Fish sang songs from her previous album. Its like a medley accompanied by a pianist and a violinist.
Some songs she sang was 可惜不是你,崇拜, songs that was on the charts previously.
So the concert ended at around 7.15pm and me and kimying started taking pictures outside. We stood for close to 2 hours. Our legs were really tired!

Okay, so we decided to head to VivoCity for some shopping plus dinner. We walked around all the way to HarbourFront and decided that we shall head to Clarke Quay for dinner....
Kimying brought me to this ramen place. They only have like 5 types of Ramen but its super long queue cos its good! This is the chicken ramen i ordered!
Kimying super engrossed with her food, especially the Rutan Egg! LOL.
After dinner, we decided to head home cos it was alr 9plus. Had a fun day with her!

Movie Review: 我爱你爱你爱你 Forever

So, The first movie preview tickets OMY gave me was for this Local film 'Forever'. I was given two tickets so I invited Samantha along.

The movie is directed by Wee Li Lin.
The two leading roles are played by Taiwan-born actor 莫子儀 and Singapore's new face Joanna Dong 董姿彥.

Synopsis:
Since she became a flower girl at the age of eight, JOEY has been in love with the idea of finding that special man and being his bride. So much so that she got a job as a video consultant at the Wedding Education Department (W.E.D.). There, Joey shares the art of getting and marrying a man, through her romantic 'faux' wedding videos, which are screened to young singles all over Singapore. But the idea of fantasy and reality are blurred as Joey falls madly in love with GIN, a handsome music teacher from Taiwan. They appear together as bride and groom in a landmark W.E.D video that will serve as a prelude to their upcoming nuptials.

But soon her bubble is burst. A beautiful girl, CECILIA, claims to be Gin's real fiancée while Gin claims that his affection for her was strictly for the video. Not letting her childhood dream go, Joey pursues Gin to make him see that she is his true bride as she sees his true heart. As her work mates, family and Gin begin to find out who she really is, will Joey's relentless drive to restore the happiness and joy she once knew also be her ultimate failing and undoing?

Here is the trailer of the movie:

Okay, so this movie comprises the theme of love, marriage and disillusion. You can really see how Joey fights for the love of Gin in the movie. She sends pandan cakes to Gin's parents on a regular basis, attends all of Gin's music showcase and even appears at his studio where he teach students violin and guitar. The strong passion of love and the idea of "I am willing to do anything for you" is seen. It is so strong that in some point in time, i actually thought that she was mental.

Yes, at the end, it is revealed that she IS REALLY MENTAL. She lacks confidence in herself and has a disillusion that Gin is her true love and she will be marrying him when it is in fact, Cecilia that is Gin's fiancee.

Throughout the movie, it is through Joey's disillusion that we see the strong theme of love. Being her debut film, i think she has brought out the emotions well, and did even better than required. I must also say that she has a good voice and I do have some liking for the theme song.

However, i felt that the movie was alittle confusing at many times. It is hard to tell if the current situation is a faux or real one. The transition between the two worlds are not done properly and I was lost at some parts. The part i was confused most was the ending. Is the last scene a faux or it is real? Did Gin actually turn mental or is it just the glimpse of the second video that Gin promised to film for Joey? Now, for those who have yet to watch the movie, you can try watching it and let me know what you think of the ending?

Anyway, i personally will rate this movie 3 out of 5. I feel that as a local film, it is not bad but the plot has not really been developed properly and the lack of good transitions makes it hard for the audience to understand it. Some people may even find this show to be "rubbish" because of its abrupt ending. But, i think if you are those who can think critically and analyse deeply, you will actually find that this film has a deeper meaning behind it.

So, i do encourage people to watch it, especially those who are critical thinkers and for those who just want to relax, this show may not be able to entertain you as much but it does have some elements that is worth watching. I personally, is a fan of romance and hence, I will definitely reconmend this movie.

The following is the MV of the theme song for the movie:

Movie Review: 神奇俠侶 Mr.& Mrs. Incredible

This is the synopsis of this movie that can be found online:

Translated Synopsis by me:

5 years ago, the Gazerwarrior and the Aromawoman were the legend of the time. The Gazerwarrior was a handsome and charismatic guy that will always appear when there are bad guys. He has defeated even the powerful Big Four. The Aromawoman is said to be a beauty. She is commonly seen helping women who are being bullied by men. During that period of time, every woman who is getting married will definitely have a portrait of the Aromawoman as her dowry. The many fans of the two heroes demanded a PK to decide who is the better one but on the day of the compeitition, the two heroes meet and fall in love with each other. Since then, they have decided to get married and leave the title of 'hero' behind.

Now, living the life of a commoner in a small town, the hero couple attempts to bring children into their lives. Unfortunately, with age catching up with them, they are unable to do so and seeks help from people, who eventually suggests them to find excitement and add some spice into their lives.

The excitement comes when a grand martial arts competition is set to be held in the small town and the Gazerwarrior is tasked to be the organizer

The Aromawoman is afraid that the martial arts competition would disrupt their peaceful life but the Gazerwarrior is very excited and happy about it. A young woman amongst all the martial arts practitioner shows liking for the Gazerwarrior and the latter seems to have found a 'new love'.

However, the martial arts competition has turned out to be a evil plot and the marriage between the hero couple is unstable. What will happen eventually?

Here is the trailer of this movie:

This movie is one of the best Chinese New Year Movies that i have watched. It gives the audience a warmth feeling as we see how the couple goes through thick and thin together and despite all the obstacles, they stand together strongly and are willing to even die together at the critical moment.
The movie revolves around how a calm and peaceful life is all that is needed for a couple who are truly in love with each other, no matter young or old. It also portrays how housewife are not as bad as what it seems like in the current society; Housewives are seen as domesticated and have 'no life' but in this movie, it really brings out the fact that housewives can be a really fulfilling role when you do it for your loved ones.
I think Sandra Ng and Louis Koo did a really great job in this show. Their versatility can be seen as we see them outshining their roles with their expressions. Aromawoman is being portray as a innocent and weak woman in the inner-self (one who needs to be loved and is willing to give up everything for it) and a strong-willed one on the outer. Sandra Ng has fully brought this out as with her sweetness in the scenes where she prepare meals and her strong side when she does everything to protect her husband.
Overall, i think this show is really good as it has a moral behind the whole movie until the general Chinese New Year Movies where the whole plot tends to revolve around the mood and not the storyline. Many of those movies are created just for the sake of it and at many times, make the audience go "so that is it?" Yet, Mr and Mrs Incredible is different with its moral and theme of happiness and bliss is an entire whole new story.
I will rate this movie 4 stars and it is a definite must watch.
